Sleep Deprivation - Impact On Beauty
As we spring ahead again
and adjust our internal clocks for Daylight Savings, we must be prepared for
those mornings when sleep doesn’t come naturally – a condition known as
“Daylight Savings Hangover.” The good news is that there is a way to look
refreshed and awake – even if your sleep schedule is in the dumps.
Freshness comes with the proper sleeping schedule & stress free light mind. It helps to have fresh & glowing skin. How does proper sleep contribute to fresh skin??
1. Wrinkles Free Skin
The skin makes new collagen when you sleep, which increases the strength of the skin. Skin becomes tight & looks
more fresh & healthy. That’s part of the repair process. More collagen
means the skin is plumper and less likely to wrinkle.
2. A Smooth & Glowing Skin
Your body boosts blood flow to the skin while you snooze, which
means you wake to a healthy glow. Skimp on sleep gets complexion can look drab,
ashen, or lifeless.
"Sleep Deprivation causes a decrease in blood flow to the
skin surrounding your face. Skin becomes dull, and you don’t get those rosy
cheeks anymore."
Skimp on sleep gets complexion can look drab, ashen, or lifeless.
3. Dark Circles Or Bags Under Eyes
You’ve had dark circles or bags under
your eyes after a few nights of insomnia.
Puffy eyes are one of the first
things we see when we don’t sleep. Get enough shut-eye and you'll have less
puffiness under your eyes.
Plenty of rest can also minimize dark
circles. When blood isn’t flowing well -- which happens when you’re low on
sleep -- it can collect under the eyes and become visible, since the skin there is
so thin.
Discoloration under the eyes can also be
characterized by genes, age, and increased melanin (the brown pigment in skin
that causes it to tan in the sun). If this is the case, sleep deprivation can
make your under-eye issue worse.
4. Healthy Hair Grow
Hair loss, breakage, damage, and even
growth can all be affected by lack of sleep, Hair follicles (where hair growth
begins) gain nutrients, vitamins, and minerals from blood flow. Since blood
flow decreases when we’re suffering from insomnia, hair gets less food, it
weakens, and it has difficulty growing,”
Lack of sleep can also lead to more stress, stress causes an increase in the hormone cortisol, which can cause you
to lose hair.
5. Healthier Happier Appearance
Being short on sleep can cause the
corners of your mouth to droop, making you look sadder than you do after a good
night’s rest.
“When you’re tired, your facial
expressions change in subtle and consistent ways. We tend to furrow and frown
more. When people say, ‘You look tired,’ it can be because of these
expressions.”
Red, swollen eyes, dark circles, sagging
eyelids, and paler skin can also signal to others that you’re exhausted.
People who don't get enough rest are also seen as less healthy than when they’re rested.
To make fresh & healthy skin. A complete daily Sleeping Routine, as well as short exercise, is essential. For this, some tips are discussed:
Tip 1: Shut it down – electronics that is. Before going to sleep, shut down all electronics – that means TV, computer, and, yes, your cell phone. These all are stimulants for the brain, and if you’re answering emails in bed at 10 p.m., you’re going to have a difficult time getting to sleep. Hit the power switch at least an hour before bedtime.
Tip 2: Get up … NOW! Once the alarm goes off, get out of bed immediately. Snoozing is not sleep; it’s just prolonging the inevitable.
Tip 3: So now that you’re up – do something. Try a morning workout to get motivated and feel energized for the day. Take a quick run or hit an early morning spin class. Be sure to challenge yourself first thing and then see how much easier your morning commute feels.
Tip 4: Hydrate. Great-looking skin isn’t just about what
you put on it, but also what you put in your body.
Skin also loses more water when you sleep than it does during the
day. Apply a creamier moisturizer before bed and drink plenty of water during
the day to help your complexion stay hydrated overnight.
Skip that morning cup of coffee, which can be dehydrating, and drink a glass of ice water instead. The cold water will not only give you a kick in the morning but also help hydrate skin, leaving it looking and feeling refreshed.
Tip 5: Wake up and fake
it! Use a hydrating
and stimulating makeup like such as cucumber and aloe, which soothe and
hydrate skin. It also has first-of-its-kind encapsulated water technology –
once the powder touches your skin, it releases a cooling sensation that gives
you an added boost in the morning.
Tip 6: Do NOT skip breakfast. You’ve worked out, you’ve hydrated, you’re looking gorgeous. Why deny your body the nutrients it needs to keep it looking and feeling refreshed by walking out the door without grabbing a quick bite.
Complete sleep is always
beneficial. It enhances the skin features due to relaxing fresh feel & mood,
It helps to improve Cognitive performance i.e. multiple abilities,
including learning, thinking, reasoning, remembering, problem-solving, decision
making & attention.
